Sarah Collins is a dedicated Legal Assistant in the Conveyancing Department at Cocks Lloyd, with many years of experience in residential conveyancing. Sarah plays a pivotal role in the conveyancing team, primarily supporting Julie Masters and Sarah Payne with client care, drafting contract packs, and guiding clients through the conveyancing process.
Sarah’s journey into the legal field began unexpectedly when she was seeking a part-time job to help her transition back to work after raising her children. She initially applied for a receptionist position one day a week, but quickly found herself captivated by the atmosphere of a law firm. Inspired by her experience, Sarah approached the partners about training as a Legal Secretary and pursued further education, earning a Legal Secretarial Diploma with Distinction. When a position became available in conveyancing, she seized the opportunity, undertaking rigorous training and eventually earning an Advanced Diploma in Land Law and Conveyancing.
As the first point of contact for many clients, Sarah handles initial quotes, sets up client files, explains the conveyancing process, orders searches, drafts contract packs, and provides regular updates on progress. She is known for her no-nonsense approach, ensuring that clients feel informed and at ease rather than overwhelmed by legal jargon. Sarah prides herself on delivering exceptional customer service and enjoys building relationships with clients, making them feel comfortable and supported throughout their property transactions.
What Sarah loves most about her job is the satisfaction of knowing she has done her very best for her clients, particularly when they express gratitude for her help and feel reassured by her guidance. Her ability to connect with clients on a personal level is one of her greatest strengths. For example, when a client recently expressed frustration over strict anti-money laundering requirements, Sarah cleverly used a relatable reference to a popular TV show to explain the importance of these procedures, leaving the client feeling understood and amused. This adaptable, personable approach helps her build trust and rapport with clients.
One of the highlights of Sarah’s career is working at Cocks Lloyd, the same firm that had represented her family for years.
