Alison Coles

Alison Coles is a highly skilled Senior Associate Solicitor in our Private Client Department, with a strong academic background and a diverse range of legal experience. Alison studied Law at Keele University, followed by the Legal Practice Course and a master’s degree in International Human Rights Law at Birmingham City University. She joined Cocks Lloyd in 2016 as a legal assistant in the criminal department, and after starting her training contract in 2017, she gained valuable experience across multiple departments, including family, conveyancing, civil litigation, and private client law. This broad exposure provided her with a deep understanding of the firm’s areas of expertise.

Alison found her passion in private client work, where she specialises in advising clients on wills, probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Deputyship applications, and trust matters. She qualified as a solicitor in 2019 and has since become an indispensable member of our team, known for her expertise and dedication to her clients.

As a Senior Associate Solicitor, Alison plays a crucial role in overseeing the training and development of colleagues within her team. Her extensive knowledge in private client matters makes her a valuable resource across the firm, often providing support to colleagues in other departments who encounter probate or Lasting Power of Attorney elements in their cases, particularly within conveyancing matters.

Alison chose to specialise in private client work because of the variety and complexity it offers. She enjoys the challenge of drafting complex wills and advising on intricate estate matters, relishing the opportunity to research and expand her legal knowledge. Her commitment to providing bespoke advice ensures that each client receives personalised guidance tailored to their unique circumstances, whether they are navigating a difficult time or planning for the future.
