Julia Swain is a dedicated Secretary and Deeds Clerk in the Probate Department at Cocks Lloyd, bringing 11 years of experience in legal support to her role. Julia plays an essential role in the team, primarily supporting the Probate Admin team while also assisting Reception and managing the Strong Room, where Deeds and original Wills are securely stored. In addition, she serves as the admin assistant for a charity supported by Cocks Lloyd, showcasing her commitment to both her professional and community responsibilities.

Julia’s journey into the legal field began after a 15-year secretarial career in industry, followed by a break to raise her family. Upon returning to work, she became a self-employed Temp specialising in legal secretary work, gaining experience across various departments in law firms in Coventry and Nuneaton. It was during this time that Julia discovered her passion for probate work, where she found great satisfaction in helping clients during sensitive and challenging times.

In her role, Julia is responsible for the careful management of all Deeds held in-house, ensuring they are securely stored and readily accessible to clients when needed. Her attention to detail and dedication to her work make her a trusted guardian of the firm’s Strong Room, where she maintains the integrity and organisation of important legal documents.

Julia loves the variety her job offers, as no two days are the same. She thrives on the different challenges and responsibilities that each day brings, whether it’s supporting her colleagues, managing Deeds, or assisting clients directly. Her versatility and willingness to support the entire Probate team make her an invaluable member of the department.

We visited here as part of Guide Dog fundraising. The solicitors have opted to support Guide Dogs for the year. We took a 16 week old Guide Dog puppy in training and a 9 year GD Buddy Dog.

I baught a residential property using cocks llyods as my conveyancer, the person looking after me was Sarah Payne, she was so amazing to work with, responded to my e-mails promptly and informed me of everything required before I had to do it, she also did some perfect work with the duedilligance making sure I got everything I wanted and more.
I could not recommend her more she helped ture a stressful process into something that was quit agreeable, and I also had some help form the receptionists who helped make sure payments went through well and that I was doing things right.
The price was also very competitive being well over £100 below a quote from one of there competitors.
